5.11 ABR Academy – Stop the Bleed

May is National Stop the Bleed Month. Join us in-store at 5.11 Rockville on Saturday, May 18 at 10 am for a free Stop the Bleed course hosted by No Warrior Left Behind.

National Stop the Bleed Month is a grassroots awareness campaign to reduce deaths from bleeding. The Stop the Bleed Program empowers the general public to make a difference in a life-threatening emergency by teaching them the basic techniques of bleeding control. The program encourages bystanders to become trained and equipped to help in a bleeding emergency before professional help arrives. National Stop the Bleed Month is endorsed by American College of Surgeons, NAEMT, ems.gov, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Learn “Life Saving” techniques in bleeding control. Instructor Albert Hance will be providing hands-on training and teaching techniques on trauma care. Attendees will learn proper tourniquet application, wound packing, pressure bandaging, and more.

Seats limited. Please call 5.11 Rockville at (240) 206-6415 to reserve your spot.

Infantry Art

Infantry Art is a form of art therapy for men and women who have served and are affected by Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) and Post Traumatic Stress (PTS). Our method involves constructing a mortar, but instead of firing lethal explosives, it fires paint onto a canvas. Explosive art creates a dramatic and chaotic image which can be used by the artist to describe their pain and anguish when creating their work.

Our goal, as an organization, is to empower everyone through multiple methods. No person is the same, which is why no outreach should be the same. We strive to create bonds and lasting friendships, and this form of therapy has been some of the most successful to date.

All sessions are overseen by trained professionals, which makes this form of therapy more exciting and still cathartic. We hope that by doing this, those who need a more creative outlet can find what they are looking for.
